FSU names Zach Newswanger as chief facilities officer

Florida State University has appointed Zach Newswanger as chief facilities officer, following a comprehensive national search. He will officially join FSU in December.  

Newswanger brings more than 20 years of experience in higher education facilities management, holding leadership roles at institutions such as University at Albany, SUNY Cortland, and Ithaca College. Most recently, he has been serving as associate vice president for facilities management at University at Albany.  

“Zach is a strategic and collaborative leader whose experience and vision will be invaluable as we continue to grow and enhance Florida State University’s physical environment,” said Kyle Clark, Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration. “We are excited to welcome him to our team and look forward to his leadership in stewarding our campus for the future.”  

In his role at FSU, Newswanger will oversee all aspects of campus facilities, maintenance, utilities, grounds, building services, environmental health and safety, programs and policies, and sustainability.
