“…there is no greater reward than that which comes from reaching out to others with the goal of helping them come to understand and enjoy the material…”
Nothing philosophical about this grad student’s efforts—just concrete results. Lisa Watkins has received a Kingsbury Award/Fellowship and has earned her MA in Philosophy from FSU, where she is now a doctoral student and undergraduate advisor.
In 2005 Lisa was recognized as an Outstanding Teaching Assistant, the culmination of four years of teaching in her department, and the result of a profound outlook: “While teaching is oftentimes challenging, there is no greater reward than that which comes from reaching out to others with the goal of helping them come to understand and enjoy the material, and be as intrigued by it as I am.”
Lisa has served as vice president of the Graduate Student Philosophical Association and as assistant editor of Social Theory and Practice, and hopes future roles include a faculty position in higher education.
