Campus community rallies for fourth annual FSU’s Great Give

The power of the Internet and social media will be on full display March 19-20 as Florida State University alumni, students and friends take part in a unique, online-only, 36-hour fundraising campaign: FSU’s Great Give. This is the fourth consecutive year for this groundbreaking campaign that raises more than $100,000 each year for the university, its students and academic programs.

As in previous years, individuals can support various initiatives throughout the university. Colleges and departments have created their own featured projects, which can be browsed online.

“By allowing each college and unit across the campus to define their own project, we’re providing an opportunity for support that may not be otherwise possible,” said Marjorie Mahan, assistant director of Annual Giving for the Florida State University Foundation.

FSU’s Great Give features projects across the university ranging from international scholarships and student orientation programs to new music equipment and exam week stress busters.

“We need every member of the Florida State community to spread the word and encourage others to give,” said Mahan. “Our goal is to build a momentum that surpasses our previous successes. Every FSU Great Give gift helps our students succeed by providing resources they can use today.”

More than 1,200 donors contributed $133,024 during last year’s campaign, surpassing the 2013 total by 16 percent.

To make a contribution, visit greatgive.fsu.edu between 9 a.m., March 19 and 9 p.m., March 20. Any online gift contributed during FSU’s Great Give also supports Florida State’s most ambitious fundraising campaign — Raise the Torch: The Campaign for Florida State. Support to this $1 billion initiative honors FSU’s strong tradition of excellence by creating a bright future for students, alumni and the entire university community.
