Campus security is focus of ‘Issues in Education’

FSU President T.K. Wetherell and Police Chief David Perry discuss the safety of the Florida State University campus on May’s Issues in
Education program, which first airs Monday, May 7, at 7 p.m. on WFSU-TV in Tallahassee and 6 p.m on WFSG-TV in Panama City.

Wetherell, Perry and co-host Suzanne Smith look at campus security in light of the recent Virginia Tech shootings. Among issues discussed
are preparing students and parents for the realities of today’s campuses; police readiness and training, and new warning and alert systems.

The program also features discussion of the results of the 2007 legislative session and a bill allowing differential tuition at FSU, the University of Florida and the University of South Florida.

The program airs throughout May on WFSU-TV, WFSG-TV and fsu4. It will also be posted on the Internet at president.fsu.edu/issues/.
