A Florida State University faculty member has been recognized for his outstanding work in the student affairs profession by the Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education.
Robert Schwartz, professor of higher education, recognized with the “Pillars of the Profession” award at the 100th anniversary of the Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA) conference in Los Angeles last month.
NASPA is the leading association for the advancement, health and sustainability of the student affairs profession.
“Receiving the Pillars of the Profession award was very gratifying,” Schwartz said. “As a member of the 2019 class of Pillars of the Profession, I was one of a number of highly respected professionals in the field. It means a lot to be recognized by my peers and colleagues.”
Each year, NASPA recognizes individuals who have served as leaders, teachers and scholars in the field of higher education and student affairs. To win the Pillar of the Profession award, honorees must demonstrate distinction in the higher education field, have served in leadership roles in NASPA either regionally or nationally, be recognized by colleagues or related parties and contribute significantly to the field of higher education.
“I am especially proud of what the recognition says about and means to our academic program, our department and to the College of Education at FSU,” Schwartz said.
NASPA also selected Schwartz for the Robert H. Shaffer Award for Academic Excellence as a Graduate Faculty Member in 2017.
