Florida State University is now providing even more educational flexibility and opportunities for incoming freshman thanks to collaboration between the Office of Admissions and The Center for Undergraduate Research and Academic Engagement. The two campus entities and their directors, Hege Ferguson and Joe O’shea, are working together to streamline a program at FSU for students wishing to take a GAP year. Hege and Joe created a process for high-school seniors to apply for a GAP year at the same time as the apply to FSU, but then went even further by providing opportunities of scholarships for up to $5,000 scholarship, making Florida State University only the second public university in the country to offer financial assistance for GAP year experiences.
