Sandra Brooke

Brooke’s research focuses on deep sea coral biology, including reproduction, larval biology and physiology, and deep sea reef ecology, particularly community associations and drivers of coral distribution. She is the scientific director of the Apalachicola Bay Systems Initiative, an $8 million project to revive Apalachicola Bay and hopefully, the region’s famed oyster industry.

Mariana Fuentes

Associate Professor

Fuentes is a marine conservation biologist, with expertise in conservation planning, natural resource management, and on anthropogenic and climate change impacts on marine mega-fauna, especially marine turtles. She wrote about the effect of microplastics on the environment for The Conversation, and her research has been featured in The Miami Herald, National Geographic, Fox News and more.
