This message to all students has been approved by Dr. Sally McRorie, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs.
The health, safety, and wellbeing of our students is a top priority for FSU. Hand in hand with this is being a good community partner and citizen in these difficult times. As such, effective immediately, students must stop attending in-person, on-site internships, externships, and practicums. All FSU students engaging in internships or experiential learning through an affiliated FSU program must convert to virtual, remote work for the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester and through Summer A, B, and F terms.
We thank site coordinators and our community members for their partnership during this challenging time for all of us. We appreciate anything they can do to support students in remotely completing their internship and volunteer efforts.
If a site is unable to accommodate virtual work, the Career Center can help. The Center has several options for students to complete program requirements for Spring 2020 successfully and to conduct remote experiential learning in the Summer 2020 terms. (Please see this announcement from the Center for resources to support remote experiential learning.) Students are directed to reach out to their internship coordinator to make arrangements for remote work. Alternatives are being made available if your site cannot support remote internship efforts.
Note: Students placed in clinical settings must coordinate with their academic unit to determine what alternates are appropriate and available.
