We know access to a reliable, high-speed internet connection may be difficult in some areas. Luckily, several solutions are available.
Eduroam
The eduroam network provides free, unlimited access to secure Wi-Fi at hundreds of higher education institutions across the nation. There are 97 sites in Florida alone—four in Tallahassee—where you can connect to this service. Find a public space near a local campus, such as a park, where you can pick up a signal and take advantage of the free Wi-Fi. To connect, select the eduroam network and sign in with your FSUID (in the format FSUID@fsu.edu) and password. Visit the Information Technology Services (ITS) website for more information on eduroam. Use this map to find an eduroam site near you: Eduroam Locations Nationwide.
Local Internet Service Providers
Check with your local internet service providers for discounted service. Many providers nationwide are offering discounted or free service during this time. Here are some of the offers we know about.
Comcast
Get free, unlimited access to all Xfinity Wi-Fi public hotspots using the xfinitywifi network.
AT&T
Get free, unlimited access to all AT&T public Wi-Fi hotspots for the next 60 days.
Spectrum
Get free broadband and Wi-Fi internet or free access to all Spectrum public Wi-Fi hotspots for the next 60 days.
Hopefully these tips will make it a little bit easier for you to stay connected to FSU while you work and learn remotely.
