This message to all faculty, staff and OPS employees has been approved by Renisha Gibbs, Associate Vice President for Human Resources and Finance & Administration Chief of Staff.
We continue to receive many questions related to the spring semester and whether there will be an expectation to discontinue remote work. I am sure that you all have read the Provost’s announcement regarding spring instruction and had an opportunity to attend the recent Human Resources Zoom meeting regarding spring plans.
We want to thank campus departments for all their assistance with Spring 2021 repopulation. We are encouraged that so many students, faculty, and staff are ready to return to face-to-face instruction. With the additional students on campus, there will also need to be additional staffing to ensure that we adequately meet the needs of our students. Of course, we must also adhere to all safety policies and protocols while enhancing our staffing efforts.
We encourage managers in each department to continue to develop their staffing needs for the spring semester. Employees who are still able to perform their duties remotely may continue to do so with appropriate approvals as long as departments are able to meet the campus community and student needs.
Departments may contact Human Resources for guidance on determining if employees should return to their campus work locations. Human Resources will continue to update campus and provide information throughout the spring semester.
At this time, the early indications are that summer operations may be similar to pre-pandemic. We encourage departments to work with their respective vice presidents to develop summer plans as they were carried out pre-pandemic. If there is a need to pivot from those plans, we will make a formal announcement at a later date. Additional information regarding staffing levels will be communicated mid-spring semester.
