FSU criminology expert available to discuss U.S. mass shootings

Florida State University criminology expert Emma Fridel is available to talk with media organizations in the wake of Monday’s mass shooting in Highland Park, Illinois – which continued a string of high-profile mass shootings in the U.S.

Fridel, an assistant professor in FSU’s College of Criminology and Criminal Justice, primarily studies violence and aggression with a focus on homicide, including school violence, homicide-suicide, serial and mass murder, plus fatal officer-citizen encounters.

Her work has been published in the “Criminology,” “Social Forces” and “Justice Quarterly” academic journals, and she is a co-author of “Extreme Killing: Understanding Serial and Mass Murder.”
