FSU College of Education Week to explore postsecondary student success

Florida State University’s sixth annual College of Education Week will feature events Monday, Sept. 26, through Saturday, Oct. 1, to celebrate the college’s students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends, including the 10th Annual Dean’s Symposium.

The symposium, “Increasing Momentum for Postsecondary Success,” will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at the Augustus B. Turnbull III Florida State Conference Center, 555 W. Pensacola St.  

Discussions will focus on the topics of postsecondary student success as well as policies and programs that higher education institutions and policymakers can consider to promote student success. Guest speakers include:

  • George Kuh, founding director of the National Survey of Student Engagement, Indiana University
  • Jim Hearn, associate director, Institute of Higher Education at the University of Georgia
  • Laura Perna, executive director of Penn AHEAD, University of Pennsylvania

Other events that will be held during the week are: Technology Showcase and Pizza Party, Wednesday, Sept. 27; Ice Cream Social, Thursday, Sept. 29; Distinguished Alumni Awards Ceremony, Friday, Sept. 30; and the Student/Donor Scholarship Awards Ceremony, Saturday, Oct. 1.
