FSU hospitality school names alumna of the year

Florida State University’s Dedman School of Hospitality has named Janine Budzius, general manager and chief operating officer of Philadelphia Country Club, as its 2017 Alumna of the Year.

Budzius, who graduated from FSU’s Dedman School of Hospitality and College of Business in 1986, will be honored at the school’s annual Honors & Awards Dinner on Sept. 21 at the university’s main campus in Tallahassee.

Budzius is a certified club manager who has held management positions at premier U.S. resorts, golf and country clubs.

In 2003, she joined the management team of Philadelphia Country Club, which serves about 5,000 people. As general manager and chief operating officer, she is responsible for $12.2 million in annual revenue. Under her leadership, the historic organization has enhanced its reputation as a premier, full-service, family-oriented private country club.

Budzius is a loyal supporter of her Florida State University alma mater, including the Dedman School of Hospitality and College of Business. She served as president and longtime board member of the Dedman School’s hospitality alumni organization, the Society of Hosts. She was among a panel of nationally recognized leaders appearing at the school’s 2015 forum, Women Leaders in the Club Industry.

Budzius is a lifetime member of FSU’s Alumni Association and a Tomahawk Seminole Boosters member. In 2013, she served as a member of the FSU College of Business’ Board of Governors.
