In this episode, the focus is on the education of the future doctors of Florida. The Florida State University President Dr. Eric Barron and WFSU-TV’s Suzanne Smith talk with Dean of the FSU College of Medicine, Dr. John Fogarty; Dr. Alma Littles, Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education and Academic Affairs; and fourth-year medical student Ashley Lucke. The discussion explores the Medical School’s use of local and regional campuses to emphasize hands-on experience. They also examine the importance of “Match Day” and efforts to increase the number of residencies available for graduates in Florida. Dr. Barron also discusses the current status of the higher education budget in the 2011 legislative session.
