The Florida State University community enjoyed ice cream, entertainment and more at this year’s President’s Ice Cream Social on Landis Green April 19.
Thousands of students, faculty, staff and community members came out to partake in the festivities of the annual event, bask in the beautiful weather and relax for a little while. The event featured games, face painting, an inflatable obstacle course, a photo booth and lots of tasty snacks.
President John Thrasher and several university administrators cheerfully scooped and served assorted flavors of ice cream while chatting and taking photos with students.
“This is one of my favorite events of the year,” said President John Thrasher. “Jean and I love getting the chance to visit with students, and it’s fun to see them relax and enjoy a beautiful afternoon on Landis Green before the end of the semester.”
President Thrasher isn’t the only one who is quite fond of this event. Students across the green were smiling and laughing as they enjoyed their treats, played games, danced and mingled.
It was freshman Cameron Rivers first time at the President’s Ice Social. She excitedly took a turn in the photo booth and had plans to later get her face painted.
“It’s a really cool event,” said Rivers, a marketing major. “I think it’s a great way to bring the FSU community together. I’ve seen a lot of people I know here and I will definitely be coming back next year.”
In two hours, the FSU community consumed 255 gallons of Edy’s ice cream, more than 3,000 cookies and 80 cases of drinks.
Sponsors of the event are Asker Distributors, Edy’s Grand Ice Cream, Coca-Cola and Seminole Dining Catering presented by Aramark.
