Florida State to host football championship game viewing party

Florida State University will host a live broadcast and viewing party of the 2014 BCS National Championship Game between the undefeated Seminoles and the Auburn Tigers 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center, 505 W. Pensacola St.

The game will be broadcast from the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.

The Civic Center doors open at 7 p.m. The free event is open to the public and includes food, games, entertainment and prizes.

The Seminoles and head coach Jimbo Fisher are nearing the end of a stellar season of football, going 13-0 and beating Duke University in the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship Game.

The team’s star quarterback Jameis Winston received this year’s Heisman Trophy, college football’s highest honor. Winston is the youngest player to win the award and Florida State’s third, behind Charlie Ward and Chris Weinke.
