Researcher to appear on NOVA’s “Sinkholes: Buried Alive”

Ming Ye, associate professor of scientific computing at Florida State.

Florida State University Associate Professor of Scientific Computing Ming Ye shared his expertise on sinkholes in an interview for NOVA’s “Sinkholes — Buried Alive,” which will air at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28 on PBS (WFSU).

Ye, an expert in computational hydrology and geology, has developed extensive experiments using different levels of water pressure and different types of sediment to simulate conditions that lead to sink hole formation.

The show features compelling eyewitness video of dramatic collapses and follows scientists as they explore the underlying forces behind these natural disasters.

The program also will air at 2 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29; at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30; and at 1 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 1.
