The Florida State University Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship (JMC), the nation’s first standalone college of entrepreneurship at a public university, earned a No. 3 ranking among public institutions on Niche’s 2026 Best Colleges with Entrepreneurship Degrees in America.

The high ranking puts JMC in an exclusive club of public schools offering the best entrepreneurship programs in the country. Among public and private institutions, JMC was rated 10th — another strong selling point for a college known for its innovation.

“This national recognition reflects the dedication of our students, faculty and staff who bring entrepreneurial thinking to life every day,” said Susan Fiorito, dean of the Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship. “We’re proud to see JMC continue to rise as a leader in innovative, hands-on education that prepares students to make a difference in any industry.”

Niche’s Best Colleges ranking system is based on a combination of analyses from academic, admissions, financial and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education. FSU earned several high rankings in the platform’s 2026 edition that spanned across several higher-education categories.

JMC’s Top 3 public ranking comes on the heels of its No. 1 spot last year as the top undergraduate school for entrepreneurship programs in Florida by The Princeton Review. It was also rated second in the South by the same publication.

The college offers broad undergraduate majors in entrepreneurship — commercial, STEM, or retail — and provides students with case-study learning along with innovative, hands-on applications. JMC partners with many of FSU’s colleges for an interdisciplinary experience that shapes the next generation of entrepreneurs.

In addition to its undergraduate offerings, the college offers graduate programs including the Master of Science in Entrepreneurship with specialized tracks in product development, social and sustainable enterprises, creative arts, and hospitality, as well as a textiles and apparel entrepreneurship master’s program. The college also offers a graduate certificate in entrepreneurship which is open to all FSU students and non-degree seeking students. JMC also offers a combined undergraduate to graduate degree pathway program.

By collaborating with colleges across FSU, JMC not only fosters an interdisciplinary academic environment but also offers 10 minors that help students from diverse disciplines integrate entrepreneurial perspectives into their chosen fields, preparing them to become innovative leaders.

The JMC continues to redefine hands-on learning and research through cutting-edge labs, studios and collections that turn ideas into real-world projects. The ThermaNOLE Comfort Lab, home to the only dynamic sweating thermal manikin at a public institution in the world, lets students, researchers and industry partners explore clothing comfort physiology. Other resources include the JMC podcast studio, digital textile printing lab, body scanning lab, visual merchandising lab, textile testing lab and historic textiles and costume collection.

JMC not only inspires innovation on campus but has impact beyond with nationwide programs through the Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship to support small businesses, veterans and nonprofits with low- to no-cost executive education.

JMC is home to several annual events that elevate its national profile, including the 5 Under 30 Speaker Series recognizing and highlighting five FSU alumni who started their companies before the age of 30 and have been achieving significant growth; the InNOLEvation Challenge, FSU’s largest new venture competition; the Jim Moran Institute Conference; the FSU Student Entrepreneurship Expo and more.
