Opening Nights at FSU presents two iconic singer-songwriters

Opening Nights at Florida State University will present two iconic singer-songwriters with illustrious careers spanning decades to open the 2023-2024 season.

Artists Mary Chapin Carpenter and Shawn Colvin will perform at 7:30 p.m., Oct. 1, 2023, in the Ruby Diamond Concert Hall. This announcement is one of two performances Opening Nights has revealed in advance of the reveal of the full 2023-2024 Season on Aug. 1.

“We are thrilled to bring the legendary Mary Chapin Carpenter and Shawn Colvin to Ruby Diamond Concert Hall,” said Jenifer Wright, director of Opening Nights at FSU. “Their combined talent and musical prowess promise an extraordinary evening that will have a lasting impact on our audience. This concert is a testament to Opening Nights’ commitment to presenting world-class performances and fostering a vibrant arts community.”

Mary Chapin Carpenter is a five-time Grammy Award-winning artist of contemporary folk and country music. Carpenter has produced numerous chart-topping hits, including “Passionate Kisses,” “He Thinks He’ll Keep Her” and “Shut Up and Kiss Me.” Her distinctive sound and storytelling abilities have earned her critical acclaim and a devoted fan base.

Shawn Colvin is a Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter known for the chart-topping hit “Sunny Came Home” and the Grammy-winning album “A Few Small Repairs.” Her unique blend of folk, rock and pop influences continues to resonate with listeners around the globe.

Tickets are available for purchase starting Aug. 28, along with the rest of the season’s shows. The remainder of the season line-up will be announced Aug. 1.
