Living Learning Communities | Issues in Education (March 2013)

This month on Issues in Education, we look at the trend at universities around the country regarding residence halls. Many are choosing to designate special living areas for students with shared interests and provide them with special academic opportunities. It’s called a Living-Learning Community. FSU President Eric Barron and WFSU-TV’s Suzanne Smith talk with the Director of one of those communities at FSU, Dr. Bill Parker. They also talk with two students who have experienced the communities first hand: Kaue Tozzi and Khloe Greenwood. The group talks about what it is like to live in these communities, the application process, the different types of communities available and how it impacts their lives and education. Dr. Barron also talks about the start of the Legislative Session and his priorities and hopes for higher education this session.
