Last month we looked at learning opportunities on college campuses for people over 50. In this episode of Issues in Education we look at opportunities for those under the age of 18. Summer camps that explore music and STEM subjects not only give elementary, middle and high school students a chance to have fun and learn during the summer but the camps can also create unique outreach opportunities for universities. The Florida State University President Dr. Eric Barron and WFSU-TV’s Suzanne Smith talk with Dr. Steve Kelly, Director of FSU Summer Music Camps and Carlos Villa, Educational Outreach Coordinator at FSU’s National High Magnetic Field Laboratory about the benefits to the universities and the inspiration it can provide for future students. Dr. Barron also talks about FSU’s involvement with the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center.
