Student Centered Spaces | Issues in Education (December 2011)

In this episode we focus on the creation of Student Centered Spaces. FSU President Eric Barron and WFSU-TV’s Suzanne Smith talk with Dr. Karen Laughlin, Dean of Undergraduate Studies at FSU about the efforts underway to create small communities within a larger University structure. They discuss the method of creating specific physical locations outside the classroom that are designed to encourage engagement and leadership among the students. Areas discussed include the remodeled Johnston Building; the new plans for the Veterans’ Center; and the idea for the Honors, Fellows & Scholars House. Dr. Barron also talks about some of his concerns for the upcoming Legislative Session.
