50th Anniversary of FSU Integration | Issues in Education (April 2012)

2012 marks 50 years since the integration of FSU’s campus. In this episode of Issues in Education, The Florida State University President Dr. Eric Barron and WFSU-TV’s Suzanne Smith look at the past, present and the events planned to celebrate the occasion this month. Guests include Doby Flowers, FSU’s first African American homecoming queen; FSU vice president for University Relations, Liz Maryanski; and current president of FSU’s Black Student Union, Kiaira McCoy. In addition to talking about the early years of the transition, the group also talks about the upcoming events that culminate with celebrated poet Maya Angelou. Dr. Barron also discusses the issues surrounding the recent legislative session.
