Online proctoring services now available

This message to all faculty and staff has been approved by Dr. Sally McRorie, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs.

With the main campus Testing Center closed until further notice, instructors needing test proctoring services for their students can now use Honorlock. An online proctoring service, Honorlock provides a way of assessing students remotely. Student exam sessions are recorded and flagged for review when potential academic misconduct is detected. This service is being offered at no cost to all FSU students, local or remote.

  • Your students take their exam in Canvas on their own computer via the internet.
  • Honorlock verifies students’ identity, records their web activity, and provides built-in features like search and destroy, mobile device prevention, and a browser guard to prevent cheating.
  • Instructors review exam recordings and check for activity flags that may indicate academic misconduct.

Ready to use Honorlock? Visit our Online Proctoring Guide for Honorlock Exams article for everything you need to get started, including sample messaging for students. We’ll be directing students to watch for communication from their instructors about proctored testing requirements.
