Florida State University welcomes Tim Weisheyer as a new member of the Board of Trustees, following his appointment by Gov. Ron DeSantis on July 11. His term begins Aug. 30.

Weisheyer brings a strong background in education, business and organizational leadership to his role as a Trustee at Florida State University. His dedication to strengthening Florida’s educational system, from K–12 through higher education, stems from his belief that quality education is foundational to building a competitive workforce and thriving communities.

“I’m looking forward to Tim joining the Board of Trustees, and thank the Governor for this appointment,” said Peter Collins, chair of the FSU Board of Trustees. “Tim’s vast business and education experience will be beneficial to us as we continue to work to improve and grow FSU.”

Weisheyer’s leadership in education spans decades and ultimately led him to elected office on the Osceola County School Board, where he served multiple terms as Chairman of the Board. During his time in office, he prioritized student achievement, fiscal responsibility and operational efficiency, helping guide one of Florida’s fastest-growing school districts through a time of rapid expansion and change. Weisheyer was subsequently elected president of the Florida School Boards Association, where he represented school boards across Florida as a leading voice in advocacy, academic achievement and effective governance. His leadership was instrumental in shepherding school districts across Florida through the COVID-19 pandemic, a time when his steady and principled leadership was paramount.

With nearly 30 years of business and organizational leadership experience, Weisheyer is the CEO of Strategic Advantage Consulting, Broker/Owner of multiple real estate companies, and a founding partner of a real estate investment and development company. His expertise is leveraged by clients in the private and public sectors for strategic planning, leadership development, organizational alignment and driving innovation.

“We are delighted to welcome Tim Weisheyer to the FSU Board of Trustees,” said President Richard McCullough. “Tim’s proven leadership, commitment to education, and broad experience in both the public and private sectors will be tremendous assets to our university. We look forward to his perspectives and are confident that his passion for student success will help advance FSU’s mission and elevate our impact across the state and beyond.”

Weisheyer’s appointment to the Florida State University Board of Trustees reflects his deep commitment to align education with economic development. He understands that K–12 education serves as the critical first step in the talent pipeline that ultimately fuels Florida’s higher education system, workforce and long-term competitiveness. His cross-sector experience brings a unique perspective to the Board, bridging education, business and civic leadership to ensure Florida’s institutions are preparing students not just for graduation, but for meaningful careers and lifelong success.

“Florida State University is at the leading edge of developing the leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs and contributors to meet the needs of the future, and I am honored to join the Florida State University Board of Trustees to lend my insights, perspective, and experience to the work of the team,” Weisheyer said. “Ultimately, my goal is to contribute to the ongoing legacy and success at FSU to ensure we continue to emerge as one of the leading institutions of higher learning in the United States.”

Weisheyer’s appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
