Gov. Rick Scott announced two appointments to the Florida State University Board of Trustees Friday.
Jorge Gonzalez, of Walton County, was appointed to fill a vacant seat for a term beginning Jan. 12, 2018, and ending Jan. 6, 2021. Gonzalez is the president and chief executive officer of the St. Joe Company. He also serves as a member of the FSU Panama City Campus Development Board and the Bay County Economic Development Alliance. Gonzalez received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Florida State University.
Scott also reappointed Kathryn Ballard, of Tallahassee, to the board for a five-year term ending Jan. 6, 2023. She received her bachelor’s degree from FSU, and she has previously served on the Board of the Florida Center for Performing Arts and as a board member for the Florida State University College of Human Sciences.
Scott’s appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
In November, the Florida Board of Governors appointed Jim Henderson to the FSU Board of Trustees for a five-year term beginning Jan. 6. Henderson, who resides in Longwood, is chairman, CEO and founder of AssuredPartners, a national insurance brokerage firm. He is a graduate of Florida State University with bachelor’s degrees in accounting and economics. Henderson’s civic and professional service includes serving as chairman of the board for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and as a member of the boards of Stetson University Business School, Hallmark Insurance Company and Ironshore Insurance Company.
