FSU’s Great Give, Florida State University’s 36-hour online giving campaign, recorded its most successful campaign to date — raising $208,550 for academic programs and scholarships.
The fifth annual event, which took place April 14-15, exceeded the previous year’s total by 28 percent and also saw an increase in the average gift amount. More than 1,729 donors contributed to FSU’s Great Give, an increase of 40 percent from the previous year.
“Each college and unit created their own featured project for funding, and we saw many of these projects surpass their goals,” said Marjorie Mahan, donor engagement officer for the Florida State University Foundation Office of Annual Giving.
Of the 29 total featured FSU’s Great Give projects, 11 exceeded their funding goals. Throughout the campaign, six incentive challenges totaling $5,500 fostered a friendly competition among FSU’s donors to give back and boost their chosen project’s chances to receive cash prizes. The College of Music’s Marching Chiefs swept four of the six incentive challenges, but it was the Division of Student Affairs that raised the most money of any FSU college or unit during the campaign.
“The Division of Student Affairs is a testament to the power of social media in a campaign like FSU’s Great Give,” Mahan said. “Their projects in support of student life, emergency services, leadership training and career preparation raised more than $29,000 in only 36 hours.”
Donors were encouraged to share their support using #FSUGreatGive through their social media channels.
“We continue to be amazed at the outpouring of support from our generous Seminole family,” Mahan said. “Their commitment to our university’s future is illustrated by our final numbers.”
