Florida State University awarded honors medallions to 24 high-achieving graduates during the Aug. 1 Medallion Ceremony in the Nancy B. Marcus Great Hall.
The FSU Honors Program supports the efforts and talents of some of the university’s most intellectually curious students who have the potential, dedication and drive for creating change.
The ceremony included remarks by Michael Furman, associate director of the University Honors Program; Joe O’Shea, associate provost and dean of Undergraduate Studies; Sophie Davis, dual honors graduate; and Jeanne N. Curtin, immediate past chair of the National Board of Directors of the FSU Alumni Association.
The breakdown of the honors awardees is as follows:
16 graduates, University Honors Program
Completed the University Honors Program, earning at least 18 honors points in fulfillment of the FSU Honors Program requirements.
4 graduates, Honors in the Major Program
Completed an honors thesis in fulfillment of the requirement for the distinction “with honors” in their major.
3 graduates, Dual Honors
Completed both the University Honors Program and the Honors in the Major Program.
1 graduate, Outstanding Senior Scholar
Completed both the University Honors Program and the Honors in the Major Program, with a 3.9 cumulative GPA or higher.
