Florida State University’s College of Law and College of Nursing have partnered to launch a new Health Law and Policy Graduate Certificate, designed specifically for students and health care professionals seeking to deepen their understanding of the legal and regulatory landscape in health care.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with the College of Nursing to equip health care students with foundational legal knowledge and practical skills to navigate today’s increasingly complex health care environment,” said Erin O’Hara O’Connor, dean of the FSU College of Law. “As the legal and regulatory frameworks in health care evolve, professionals across the industry need to understand how to navigate these challenges.”
The fully online, asynchronous 12 credit hour certificate program covers a broad spectrum of topics, including health law statutes and regulations, compliance strategies, risk management, health care governance and policy development. Students will learn to interpret relevant health care laws, mitigate legal risks, design and audit compliance programs, and communicate effectively with legal counsel, regulators and organizational leadership.
“This partnership reflects our shared commitment of preparing health care professionals who are not only exceptional clinicians, but also knowledgeable leaders who can confidently navigate the legal complexities of today’s health care environment,” said Jing Wang, dean of the FSU College of Nursing. “By integrating legal literacy into health education, we are advancing our mission to develop well-rounded, forward-thinking nurses and health care leaders who will shape the future of patient care.”
Tailored for professionals in fields such as compliance, risk management, health care administration, human resources, insurance, and health technology, the program is ideal for doctors, nurses, physician assistants, C-suite executives and others working at the intersection of health care and law.
