Professional performers and creative artists take on the role of educators and mentors at FSU’s 13th annual Seven Days of Opening Nights festival of the fine and performing arts. Florida State University President Eric Barron and WFSU-TV’s Suzanne Smith talk with renowned jazz pianist Marcus Roberts, a member of the FSU College of Music faculty and 2011 Seven Days performer, and Festival Director Steve MacQueen about the performances, the involvement of the students and the importance of art at the university level. MacQueen also talks about the return of the festival to the newly refurbished Ruby Diamond Concert Hall. Dr. Barron discusses priorities for the 2011 legislative session and the possibility of tuition increases.
