In this episode, Florida State University President Eric Barron talks with three of the 10 Florida State University students selected as 2010 Fulbright scholars: Kerry Gilmore (doctoral student in organic chemistry), Allison Leger (master’s student in the College of Motion Picture Arts), and Richard Benson (recent graduate with degrees in applied economics and history). The scholarships will allow all three to travel to other countries in the coming academic year to conduct research, study and teach. The discussion centers on what this opportunity means for their studies and their careers. President Barron and the students also explore how the application process worked and how the Office of National Fellowships helped them achieve their goals. This high-achieving trio also discusses how to find balance between the academic and social aspects of college. In addition, President Barron discusses the university’s current financial situation.
