FSU College of Social Work receives CDC Gran

Assistant Professor of Social Work, Philip Osteen and a team from FSU will be working with the University of Maryland, Baltimore to study online suicide screenings and prevention tools specifically looking at decreasing suicide rates among middle-age men ages 35 to 64, which is a population at a higher risk for suicide. The Centers for Disease Control offered a four year, $1.24 million grant to study this population since men are less likely to seek mental health services and account for the largest proportion of suicides in the nation at 56%.
