A Florida State University student has been selected as the first recipient of the Thamesh Ramjit Student Philanthropist of the Year Award by FSU’s Student Foundation.
Ramzi Rosario was recognized at the 2025 Philanthropy Gala for his exceptional dedication to philanthropy, service and leadership within the student community. The award is named in honor of Student Foundation member Thamesh Ramjit who passed away last spring.
“Thamesh truly embodied the spirit of philanthropy on our team, and we wanted a lasting way to honor him,” said Yasamin Khosh, 2025 chair of the foundation. “Ramzi’s philanthropic commitment around campus represents exactly what we were looking for when selecting the inaugural recipient of this award.”
Through his involvement in Sigma Phi Epsilon and the Interfraternity Council, Rosario greatly influenced five philanthropic initiatives, raising more than $50,000 for causes such as the Collegiate Veterans Association and Service for Sight. He is a member of the University Honors Program, an FSU Service Scholar and a recipient of the 21 Under 21 Philanthropy Award.
“To me, philanthropy is a duty, passion and it’s a way of living,” Rosario said. “I want to change how people see giving. It isn’t just money. It’s time, energy, skills and platforms. I want to show students that philanthropy can be successful and enjoyable, something everyone can be a part of, not just those who can write large checks.”
Rosario is pursuing a degree in commercial entrepreneurship through the Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship and will graduate in Spring 2027.
Beyond campus outreach, Rosario has contributed hundreds of volunteer hours with organizations including Boys Town of North Florida, Engage TLH and Best Buddies. His work reflects his commitment to incorporating entrepreneurship and leadership as tools for positive change.
“I am deeply honored to receive the Student Philanthropist of the Year Award, and I will continue to strive to make service a cornerstone of my personal and professional journey,” he said. “I want my mark to be that I helped shift the culture — proving that generosity can be a daily habit, not just a line on a resume. Generosity isn’t just a moment. It’s a mindset.”
