The Master’s of Science in Applied Economics program (MAEP) in the Department of Economics at Florida State University has joined the prestigious National Association for Business Economics (NABE), granting students the opportunity to earn their graduate degree along with the Certified Business Economist (CBE) professional certification.

NABE is a leading professional organization for business economists and professionals whose work involves applied economics. Since 1959, it has drawn top experts from economics, business and academia through its respected conferences, education and career programs, as well as exceptional networking opportunities. This recognition is a significant achievement for the MAEP that will benefit students for years to come.

The CBE certification, established by NABE, combines applied economics with data analytics, distinguishing candidates through a defined standard of achievement. The CBE certification helps employers recognize applicants who are prepared, qualified and dedicated to continually updating their skills and knowledge throughout their careers.

“We’re thrilled to join as partners in NABE’s CBE program,” said John Hamman, chair of the Department of Economics. “Our STEM-designated twelve-month Master’s in Applied Economics Program gives students all of the tools needed to succeed as applied economists working with large datasets in today’s job market. The ability for them to add CBE certification to their degree will provide further evidence that our graduates enter the market as highly trained economic analysts.”

The Department of Economics is the largest department in the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy (COSSPP). The department’s MAEP is designed to equip students for careers in government and the private sector. The program maintains close connections with alumni and engages with leaders in state and local government.
