The Florida State University Police Department (FSUPD) and Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) are working together to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for the thousands of fans who will visit Tallahassee during the 2026 college football season. 

With both FSU and Florida A&M hosting home games throughout the fall, motorists should expect increased traffic, temporary road closures and modified traffic patterns around both campuses. 

This season, FSU and FAMU will host home games on the same day on Saturday, Sept. 26; and Saturday, Oct. 31. On these days, motorists should anticipate heavier traffic around both campuses and the downtown area, particularly along Tennessee Street, Pensacola Street, South Monroe Street, Gaines Street, Lake Bradford Road and Orange Avenue. Fans are encouraged to arrive early and allow additional travel time. 

FSU Gameday Traffic 

Before FSU home games, fans are encouraged to use the following roadways to access parking on and around campus: 

• From the north: Stadium Drive for parking west of Doak Campbell Stadium or Macomb and Bronough streets to Pensacola Street for parking east of the stadium. 

• From the east: Pensacola Street for parking east of the stadium and Gaines Street for parking west of the stadium. 

• From the west: Pensacola or Tennessee streets to Stadium Drive for parking west of the stadium, or Tennessee Street to Macomb Street for parking east of the stadium. 

• From the south: Lake Bradford Road. 

Traffic signals along Pensacola Street between Duval Street and Chieftan Way will be set to flash before the game to give priority to westbound traffic traveling toward Doak Campbell Stadium. TPD officers will be on post along this route three hours before kickoff, and traffic signals at intersections near Doak Campbell Stadium may be controlled by TPD as many as six hours before the game. 

Motorists traveling through the area who are not headed to the game should expect delays, particularly along Macomb and Copeland streets. When possible, motorists are encouraged to use Ocala Road and Monroe Street for north-south travel to avoid pre-game traffic. 

After the game, Pensacola Street east of the stadium will be modified to flow one-way for eastbound traffic only, away from the stadium. St. Augustine Street/W. Madison Street between Varsity Drive and South Monroe Street will also flow one-way eastbound toward Apalachee Parkway. 

To give fans priority in leaving the area after the game, northbound traffic will not be allowed on Springhill Road/Lake Bradford Road from Levy Avenue to Gaines Street, nor will southbound traffic be allowed on Stadium Drive from Tennessee Street.  

Motorists traveling through the area should expect delays due to the traffic control pattern from some time in the fourth quarter until about one hour after the end of the game (weather delays not included), especially along Macomb, Copeland, Duval, Bronough and Monroe streets. Motorists hoping to avoid post-game traffic, especially for north-south travel, are advised to use Ocala Road and Monroe Street. 

Plan Ahead 

Fans attending games are encouraged to arrive early, allow additional time for travel and follow the directions of law enforcement officers managing traffic. 

Motorists not attending a game should also plan ahead and consider alternate routes, particularly on Aug. 29, Sept. 26 and Oct. 31, when both universities will host home games.

Florida State will face Georgia Tech in Dublin, Ireland, on Saturday for the first overseas football game in university history.   

The 2024 Aer Lingus College Football Classic kicks off at noon ET at Aviva Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN. 

Dublin will welcome over 27,000 international fans for the event. FSU’s presence in Dublin represents an effort to deepen connections between the university, the state of Florida, and Ireland, and for students, faculty, alumni and football fans to participate in this historic event and experience Irish culture. 

Multiple events will take place across the city leading up to the game, including pep rallies, Irish cultural experiences, and business and academic events. 

The FSU Marching Chiefs will deliver a halftime performance that includes a rendition of the classic Irish song, “Danny Boy.” The Marching Chiefs will also perform at the Irish Immigration Museum, Slane Castle, the Royal Dublin Society and the FSU Pep Rally in Dublin’s Smithfield Plaza. 

The FSU Men’s Rugby Club will take on Trinity College in Dublin for another historic sporting event on Friday. The event is the first European match in the club’s 52-year history and the second time the club has traveled abroad since playing a match in the Bahamas in the 1980s. FSU alumni, fans and family raised more than $56,000 to help send the team to Dublin for the match.  

Days before the game, four students from the FSU College of Business — Sean Cliff, Mason Pullum, Sebastian Mehlum and Daniel White — will participate in the Future Leaders Challenge, a Shark Tank-like competition that culminates students’ work and pairs them with representatives from Grant Thornton and Eversheds through the summer. Students will face a judging panel that includes College of Business alumni. 

The FSU College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences is making an appearance overseas through its Project ElevatED, which will honor teachers from Florida, Georgia and Ireland on Friday. The football game isn’t the only thing bringing FSU to Ireland this year. Other notable connections include: 

• FSU’s College of Social Work offers internships in Dublin through International Programs.  

• FSU’s College of Music has an Irish Ensemble, which focuses on traditional and neo-traditional Irish fiddle repertoire taught in a traditional oral-aural manner. Singing and dance traditions are encompassed in the repertoire, and other instruments used in Irish traditional music are included in the ensemble as well.
• Last spring, the FSU Museum of Fine Arts brought Irish contemporary art to Tallahassee through a multidisciplinary exhibition that considers relationships between people, language, land and sea through the work of 10 Irish artists. Associate Professor of Indigenous Art & Film Kristin Dowell, a proud speaker of the endangered Irish language, curated the exhibition, “Talamh agus Teanga: Land and Language in Contemporary Irish Art”.
• Over the summer, the FSU Global Scholars Program participated in Alanna Desmore’s project at University College Dublin, where she conducted research on integrating Large Language Models into digital forensic investigations.
