The Florida State University College of Music will present two concerts at the Ruby Diamond Concert Hall showcasing the breadth of talent of the college’s students and faculty featuring a wide range of musical performances.

“The 40th annual PRISM concert and the 24th Seasonal Celebration will feature performances of all sizes and configurations, from solos to sectionals, orchestras to Marching Chiefs — music literally fills the halls,” said Gregory Jones, associate dean of the College of Music. “There is truly no bad seat in the house at either of these events.”

The PRISM concert includes a series of musical vignettes that feature 35 individual performances and more than 500 wind, brass and percussion players. It includes both small ensembles as well as the world-renowned Marching Chiefs. To create a one-of-a-kind experience for the audience, performances will take place not only on the stage of the venue but also from the balconies and aisles.

The program will take place at 7:30 p.m. nightly from Tuesday, Nov. 30, through Friday, Dec. 3.

Seasonal Celebration, a special choral concert of festive music, will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4, and at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5. The concert will feature a diverse group of musical traditions and holiday themes performed by eight choirs and 400-plus voices.

During the two-day musical extravaganza, the choral department at FSU will blend well-known Christmas classics like “The Christmas Song” and “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day” with lesser-known holiday selections from around the world.

Prior to the performance, the Tallahassee Handbell Choir will be ringing in the holiday season from the lobby of the Ruby Diamond Concert Hall.
