A Message from Vice President for Student Affairs Amy Hecht: Event Size Restriction Change

This message to all students has been approved by Dr. Amy Hecht, Vice President for Student Affairs.

Students,

As we approached October, I’ve been pleased to see our positivity rate decrease and many of our students following the guidelines including masks and social distancing. We know how challenging this has been and we appreciate all you do to help keep our community safe.

Because of your efforts and our low positivity rate, I have decided to return student events to the initial 50 individuals, whether indoors or outdoors. This policy allows our student organizations to begin safely hosting events without alcohol and following the safety protocols that are in place. You can learn more about these guidelines here.

The Division of Student Affairs is invested in providing quality and safe programs and it is up to each of us to uphold the safety precautions for each other.

  • Wear a facial covering
  • Do not gather in groups larger than 50
  • Practice social distancing
  • Practice good hygiene
  • Participate in contact assessment when requested
  • Get a digital thermometer
  • Stay home if you have symptoms or have had close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19

While we still have work to do, I appreciate the efforts that have been made and I also understand how important campus life and our student organizations are to the FSU Experience.

Sincerely,

Dr. Amy Hecht
Vice President for Student Affairs
