With the AA+ rating, Fitch recognized the university to be a comprehensive flagship research institution with broad statewide, regional and even national/international draw for students.

Florida State University received the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in higher education. FSU also won the award in 2014, 2015 and 2016. The FSU College of Medicine also earned recognition for diversity in health professions.
