RESOLUTION OF EDUCATIONAL AND CIVIL UNITY
FOR
FLORIDA A&M UNIVERSITY, FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY
AND TALLAHASSEE COMMUNITY COLLEGE

The compelling need for educational excellence in American society throughout the Twenty-First Century is an undeniable ingredient in order for our nation to be a leader in the world and in all segments of human affairs.

Whereas, it is in this spirit that Florida A&M University, Florida State University and Tallahassee Community College agree to promote and maintain a cooperative relationship between leaders and students of the three educational institutions in Tallahassee, Florida; and

Whereas, toward this purpose, we also will adhere to lifting and maintaining the highest standards of respect for all persons within our respective educational communities and we will promote an appreciation for the diversity of culture and ideals among our students, faculty and staff; and

Whereas, the challenges facing members of society at the state, national and international levels compels that our students and faculty remain socially sensitive and engaged so that our educational enterprises will remain relevant as we think globally but act locally; and

Whereas, we value the advances of automation and technology, however, it is critical that as American institutions of higher learning we must remain vigilant in our recognition, celebration and remembrance that nothing supersedes the human spirit and its relevance as a spiritual phenomenal worthy of our most sacred regard and protected by civil order; and

Whereas, here in the Capital of Florida we agree to endeavor to advance the educational mission of our respective institutions and to increase universal understanding of dynamics affecting the civil, social, political, economic and moral existence of all people including ideals lifted up as societal reflections touted by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Therefore, we affirm the missions of our respective institutions and will pursue fulfilling their purposes promoting civil, moral, intellectual and social responsibilities to honor the rights and dignity of all who attend Florida A&M University, Florida State University and Tallahassee Community College.
