The Business Journals

Florida State University is ranked among the nation’s top public institutions according to a national report released by Business First.

The publication ranked Florida State No. 36 on its list of 477 universities and colleges and placed second among Florida public institutions. The assessment was based on 20 indicators of academic excellence, prestige, affordability, diversity and economic strength.

Business First gives the highest marks to institutions that offer a well-rounded college experience to its students. The publication places strong emphasis on admission selection, retention and graduation rates, reputation, resources, affordable tuitions, housing costs and diversity among faculty and student body.

The study is based on the latest data from the National Center for Education Statistics and the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey. College rankings recently issued by three national publications (Forbes, Kiplinger’s and U.S. News and World Report) have also been taken into account.

Business First is a Buffalo-based publication owned by American City Business Journals Inc. ACBJ, the nation’s largest publisher of local business news and information, is headquartered in Charlotte.
