Florida State University’s Department of Interior Architecture and Design has once again been recognized as one of the top interior design programs in North America by DesignIntelligence.
DesignIntelligence, the respected industry journal of the Design Futures Council, serves as a regular source of information for publications such as Fortune, Wall Street Journal, Chicago Tribune and NPR. The rankings have served for 17 years as the definitive analysis of architecture, landscape architecture, industrial design and interior design programs nationwide.
“The department is pleased to know that our graduates are well prepared to take their place in the professional world,” said Lisa Waxman, chair of the department.
In the deans and chairs survey of most admired programs, the FSU interior design graduate program ranked second. FSU was also well represented in a companion survey of hiring professionals about which schools are graduating the most qualified students. Of the 188 programs accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA), FSU’s graduate program ranked No. 9 and the undergraduate program ranked No. 19.
“We have an incredibly dedicated faculty and a tight-knit learning community where students are supported by faculty, administration and one another,” Waxman said. “We were pleased to see that 100 percent of our students ranked their experience at FSU as ‘excellent.’”
The department has been ranked in the Top 2 for the past five years.
The Department of Interior Architecture and Design is part of FSU’s College of Fine Arts and has been fully accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) since 1975. The department offers a bachelor’s degree as well as three master’s degrees.
