In this episode of Issues in Education, we look at the changing world of music education and gain some insight into music appreciation. FSU President Dr. Eric Barron and WFSU-TV’s Suzanne Smith talk with music critic and philanthropist Albert Cohen and College of Music Dean Don Gibson about history of the college and how it is celebrating its centennial. They also discuss the establishment of the new Albert H. Cohen Endowed Fund for Excellence in Baroque Music Performance and Scholarship and what it means to the future of the university. Dr. Barron also discusses the importance of private funding at a public university, the presidents’ search for “Big ideas,” and where FSU college tuition ranks in respect to other public universities.
