Florida State University caps off its week long Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Celebration January 13th with a special program in Ruby Diamond Auditorium. The highlight is a keynote address from Jennifer Jones, the Executive Director of Student Development & Programs at Southern Methodist University.
Students march in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The FSU chapter of the NAACP leads a morning march January 13th beginning at Florida State’s Center for Multicultural Affairs and proceeding to the Integration Statue near Oglesby Union. After a brief speech from NAACP National Board of Directors member Jabari Paul, the march continues on to steps of the Westcott Building.

Florida State University Interior Design Associate Professor David Butler receives the Louis Tregre Award from the National Council for Interior Design Qualifications. The award honors members of the NCIDQ who have committed themselves to volunteer service with the organization, promoting its mission of establishing standards of competence in the practice of interior design.
Thomas Joiner Delivers Lawton Lecture Dec. 6
Florida State University's 2010-2011 Robert O. Lawton Distinguished Professor, Dr. Thomas Joiner, discusses his critically acclaimed 2005 book "Why People Die by Suicide." This lecture is the 14th Annual Lawton Lecture. It is named in honor of the late VP of Academic Affairs Robert O. Lawton.
Florida State strikes Gold with green design
FSU unveils the LEED Gold plaque to be mounted on the university's Center for Global and Multicultural Engagment. The building is the first LEED Gold certified building on campus.
Florida State English Prof reads between historical lines
Florida State University English Professor Anne Coldiron is the recipient of a prestigious Folger Fellowship. The fellowship is awarded by the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C., home to one of the greatest archives of rare books. Coldiron will use the fellowship to conduct research for her forthcoming book "Printers Without Borders: Translation, Transnationalism, and Early Modern English Literature."
