09/15/2011 - Florida State finds key to past in Woolly Rhino fossil

Florida State University Geochemist Yang Wang is part of a team that uncovered the fossils of a 3.7 million-year-old Woolly Rhino high atop the Tibetan Plateau.  The oldest known woolly rhino to be found, it's fossils contain clues to understanding the evolution of the Earth.

09/14/2011 - Florida State hits restart on video game research

An increasing number of studies have suggested video games--action video games, specifically--might actually be good for people.  The thought was that mastery of these games could improve a variety of cognitive and perceptual abilities.  But a new study out of Florida State University shows these results are not what they seem, and there are a lot more levels of study to conquer before we'll really know if beating the game gives a boost to your brain.

Patrick Steffens, an 18-year-old freshman from New York City’s Brooklyn borough, is a serious rugby player and gifted math student who dreams of an FBI career. He also is the first recipient of a new FSU-NYC September 11 Scholarship from the FSU Seminole Club of New York City.  In light of the 10th anniversary of 9/11, we examine the thoughts and feelings of this new generation of students, many of whom were too young to realize the significance of that day.
