FSU ad team places in top 10 at national competition

Arrowhead Advertising, the Florida State University student advertising team, placed in the top 10 in a national competition for the fourth consecutive year.

The team placed seventh among 16 teams that made it to the finals of the National Student Advertising Competition of the American Advertising Federation, held recently at the AAF conference in Orlando.

The team reached the national finals for the fourth consecutive year and finished in the top 10 each time. More than 150 colleges and universities compete each year.

“I'd put our students up against any students in the country, and the advertising industry certainly has noticed as well,” said Barry Solomon, associate in Communication and the team’s faculty adviser. “Many of our students have secured great internships or been hired at some of the top ad agencies in the country as a result of their work on this annual project.”

In addition to winning the championship, the 15-member team won the following categories at the district competition in April: Best Research, Best Strategy, Best Creative, and Best Q&A. It was the seventh time in the past 10 years that Florida State has won the district championship.

“The students work exceptionally hard on the campaign each year, and it gives them an opportunity to conduct research, develop a strategy, produce materials in multiple media and present to industry professionals,” said Steve McDowell, director of the School of Communication.

The team members are Jonny Arcila, Emily Asqueri, Nicole Brooker, Arielle Calderon, Courtney Connell, Maria Correa, Jesse Damiani, Danielle Delph, Michela Fleury, Alysse Goodwiller, Courtney Griffin, Christina Morgan, Gala Pazos, Sydney Perlman, Alexis Perricone and Jordan Rich.
