Oct. 6 Summit to Focus on Cyber Security
October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and The Florida State University’s Academic and Professional Program Services, in conjunction with the Agency for Enterprise Information Technology, is hosting the FGTC Cyber Security Summit on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the FSU Alumni Center.
The summit, one of several Florida Government Technology Conference events, is targeted at public-sector information technology (IT) security professionals, as well as experts in the private sector. It is an excellent opportunity for IT security professionals to exchange ideas and discuss new solutions for today’s issues in cybersecurity.
Featured speakers include:
- Patrick Gray, senior security strategist at Cisco and a 20-year veteran of the FBI, who will focus on threat vectors and risks of public sector data;
- Johannes Ullrich, Ph.D., chief research officer of the SANS Institute, who will focus on security issues developers face;
- Rob Pate, chief security officer at Renesys and former deputy director of outreach and awareness at the National Cybersecurity Division (NCSD) of the Department of Homeland Security, as well as the director of focused operations with the United States Computer Incident Readiness Team (US-CERT), who will discuss the magnitude of cybersecurity challenges;
- Retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Harry Raduege, chairman, Deloitte Center for Cyber Innovation and co-chair of the Center for Strategic and International Studies’ (CSIS) Commission on Cybersecurity, who will focus on the commission’s report issued in December 2008 regarding findings and next steps for cybersecurity.
