The 2013 BIG Event

Florida State University will present the 2013 BIG Event, taking place on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, and featuring live entertainment, refreshments and guest speakers. Time and location will be determined at a later date.

As it returns to FSU for the fifth consecutive year, the 2013 BIG Event is expected to be the largest community service event to take place at the university. Through service-oriented activities, the event is geared to promote campus and community unity as students, faculty and staff come together for a day to express their gratitude for the support from the surrounding community.

Students, faculty and staff will participate in The Big Event to show their appreciation to the surrounding community by completing service projects such as yard work, window washing and painting for community members. Also, for the first time ever, the 2013 event will unite Florida State and Florida A&M University through service. More than 2,000 participants from FSU and 1,000  from FAMU are expected. Although The BIG Event has become one of the largest one-day, student-run service projects in the nation, the message and the mission will be to simply say, “Thank you.”
