Florida State ranked eighth best value law school

The National Jurist and preLaw magazines have ranked Florida State University College of Law the eighth best value law school in the nation. The ranking, published in preLaw magazine’s fall 2010 issue and the October 2010 issue of The National Jurist, considers tuition, indebtedness, employment rate and bar passage rate.

The national ranking reflects the College of Law’s strong student outcomes. Ninety-nine percent of the class of 2009 was placed within nine months of graduation. In six of the last 10 administrations of the Florida Bar Examination, Florida State graduates ranked first among all Florida law schools that had more than one test taker.

“We are thrilled to be rated one of the nation’s best in terms of offering students a superb legal education at relatively low cost,” said College of Law Dean Don Weidner. “One of the major factors in selecting a law school for many students is price — this ranking confirms that students who choose Florida State are getting a tremendous value.”

In 2009, Florida State was ranked the nation’s 10th best value law school by preLaw and The National Jurist.

The best value ranking comes two weeks after Hispanic Business magazine named Florida State the sixth best law school in the nation for Hispanics.
