Florida State to hold news conference with United Way

In consideration of a tough economic climate and dramatic cuts to university budgets, the Florida State University United Way campaign leaders lowered the goal for the annual employee campaign. Florida State employees, however, blasted past that goal, reaching deep to contribute more than ever to their community.

To publicly recognize the scope of employees’ generosity and emphasize the difference they are making in the region even when facing their own financial challenges, the co-captains of this year’s campus campaign, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Lawrence G. Abele and Florida State Police Chief David Perry, will hold a news conference on Friday.

They will release the final figure from Florida State employees, and President T.K. Wetherell will present a symbolic check to Ken Armstrong, president of the United Way of the Big Bend. Abele and Perry will discuss some of the very creative ways employed by department representatives across campus to advance the campaign. Many of them will be on hand at the press conference and available to discuss their efforts.

The event will be held:

FRIDAY, JAN. 29
