FSU Police Department takes top honors in the 2010 Law Enforcement Fitness Challenge
Members of the winning FSU Police Department team
When you think of the Florida State University Police Department, do champions of tug of war and dominators of dodge ball come to mind? Probably not, but perhaps they should. The FSU Police Department was one of several local agency participants in the 2010 Law Enforcement Fitness Challenge held at Florida A & M University on December 17. Lt. Jason Trumbower organized the FSU team.
In addition to winning the tug of war and police dodge ball events, the team took top honors in the stair climb, the 200 shuttle run and the 150 pound dummy drag.
Individually, Trumbower had the fastest time in the stair climb by climbing 4 sets of stairs in an impressive 1 minute 19 seconds. Officer Greg Washington showed his skills by finishing the 200 shuttle run in 22.9 seconds, the fastest time of the day. Not to be outdone, Officer Kier Edwards won the 150 pound dummy drag.
The Florida State University Police Department was awarded its initial accreditation by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc. on May 22, 2002. A re-evaluation of the agency occurs every three years. The Agency has been reaccredited after each on-site assessment. Florida State University Police Department was awarded the status of reaccreditation on October 05, 2005 and October 08, 2008.
